Property listings are automatically updated daily at a scheduled time via custom perl programming that connects to the Multiple Listing Service's server, downloads the current data file and any new photos, and logs off. The data is automatically processed by a custom PHP program and inserted into a MySQL database. PHP is used to dynamically create the listing summary and detail pages from the information in the database. Email is sent to the site owner to confirm that the update was completed. This whole process ensures that the listings are always as up-to-date as possible--automatically!
Modular content design allows for efficient, cost-effective site maintenance for this elegant day spa's web site. Each page is built using PHP to assemble page header, navigation, subnavigation within each section, page footer, etc. When something needs to be updated throughout the site (the copyright date, for example, or adding a new section to the navigation links), only a single file needs to be changed. The changes flow through to the rest of the site pages automatically and instantly.
