From the beginning, web pages were created using HyperText Markup Language (HTML). All that has changed in the last couple of years. A new technology called XML (Extensible Markup Language) has been developing that will eventually affect virtually all business documents, including web pages. XML is already being integrated into new versions of nearly every major business software.

Since XML is still being created, it will take time for web browsing software to be programmed that fully implements all the XML features. Most web site visitors are still using browsing software based on HTML.

That leaves web developers with a quandary. If we continue coding pages in HTML we know it's likely they will soon need to be recoded in XML. Alternatively, if we code pages in XML, most site visitors won't have software to view them.

To solve the dilemma, an interim coding language has been developed that is compatible with both HTML software and XML software. Called XHTML (Extensible HyperText Markup Language), it is now the official industry standard for creating web pages.

Turtle Island Web Design began coding web pages in XHTML before most web designers had even heard of it. In fact, many developers still haven't made the switch.

When we design your pages, you can rest assured that we will use up-to-date technologies and follow established industry recommendations. It's an integral part of our company standards of excellence.
